Summer Weddings | Part Two

I am still having a hard time accepting that summer is almost over! :(  While fall means pumpkin spice everythinggggg, fantasy football, the leaves changing to beautiful shades of orange and maroon (HOOOKIIEEESSSS!!!), and being able to pair cozy leggings with my favorite boots, I am still pushing for those last few warm, sunny days. With that in mind, I wanted to share one more invitation suite that screams fun, summer beach days.

Everything about this invitation suite--from the patterns, to the colors, to the fonts--compliments Amanda and Scott's beach wedding.

Starting with the invitation, the two surfboards with their initials adds a personal touch to the invitation. The chevron pattern on the bottom adds a fun, modern vibe that perfectly suits the beach vibe. I love to mix font and color in order to emphasize certain elements of the invitation.  Turquoise and coral has always been one of my fav color combos, and it fits perfectly with this summer suite!

The reception card uses the same chevron pattern, colors, and fonts as the invitation while the RSVP card compliments the invitation by adding the surfboard motif and the heart motif as check boxes (which connect the two surfboards together). The addition of the rolling wave pattern further brings out the beach vibe.

Lastly, the suite is tied together with the most adorable sunglass tag and gray and white bakers twine.

From the save the date postcard to their thank you cards, we made sure to tie everything together to create a uniformed look. They also had a wedding program fan that complimented the suite, as seen here. (Photo by Andi & Zoe Photography)

Don't forget that we can also do save-the-dates, day-of paper items, and anything else you may need paper wise. Amanda and Scott had us design their save-the-dates and thank you postcards. What a cute way to tie each aspect of your big day together!

Summer Weddings

With summer quickly coming to an end, I am already counting down the days for flip-flop weather and having my toes back in the sand! Since I am already daydreaming about next summer, I felt it was appropriate to share this invitation suite we did for a labor day wedding a few years ago.

The flip-flop tag provides a fun nod to a casual, beach themed wedding. I love the use of Kraft paper for the invitation and the flip-flop tag to provide a sandy, natural color to the invitation suite.

Don't you love how the red, blue, and Kraft play off one another? I used a blue and red striped border to give the RSVP a pop of color. It also reminds me of vintage  postcards! The invitation is printed on Kraft paper and is mounted to teal cardstock. The cardstock gives the invitation a nice, subtle pop of color that coordinates with the outer and RSVP envelopes. Matching address labels can be added to any suite and is a fast and easy way to address all the envelopes to your guests.

The invitation suite is then tied with red baker's twine to present a complete package. Baker's twine has become very popular and provides a fun way of adding an added touch to any invitation suite. We especially love to add a tag (just like the flip-flop one you see), which can be used to add a monogram, website or can be used as an information card. Last but not least, the addition of an envelope liner can add the final touch to have all the elements of your invitation suite correspond to one another. Let the countdown to next summer begin!

Little Baby Foster's Nursery

I have had the best time working on Jackson's nursery during my pregnancy!  I started super early (like 15 weeks) for several reasons.. one being that my hubby was away on travel for 2 months which left nothing else to do, two that I was in my "slow season" for my personal business, and three, being the most likely, was that I was too excited to wait!  I had already started my Pinterest board way back when of a general idea, but it definitely changed along the way.  I didn't want a "theme" but more a collection of happiness :)  So the first thing I did was to create an inspiration board and find the best deals on the "big items".

The big items included the crib, rug, rocker/glider, and dresser. I knew I wanted a white, modern crib with clean lines so I automatically looked at Ikea first. I actually found the exact one I wanted (Gulliver crib) on Craigslist, but when I saw it in person, I immediately changed my mind because it was super short (like 29"). I guess it was just part of the modern design, but with me being 5'10 and hubby being 6'5, it was not going to make the cut. So then I just started Googling, and ended up finding a similar design at Walmart. The fact that it was on the cheaper side was definitely a plus. For the dresser, I wanted something that was a decent size so that I could use it as his changing table. This was another Craigslist find that I spruced up with a coat of light aqua paint and painted the drawer handles as well. Next was the rocker/glider. These things are EXPENSIVE, so once again, I searched Craiglist. I got pretty lucky because I found one right away in a light blue color and it had just been steam cleaned. Its very comfortable too! The last thing that I definitely knew I wanted was the herringbone rug from . That was kind of the centerpiece of the whole nursery, and I lovveeeee it.

For the crib bedding, I couldn't find anything in the stores that I liked, so I decided to make it myself :)  I found a tutorial on Pinterest for a DIY crib skirt and decided to paint the stripes on (in hindsight, I wish I would have just ordered navy/white striped fabric).  For the bumper, I just recovered an old one that I found on Craigslist (after washing it of course). This may or not not stay in the crib due to the whole SIDS concern, but for now, its cute.  For the crib blanket, I just found fabrics at JoAnn's and made it myself. Here are links for the pillows:

Jackson's big sister guarding his room.. I always find her in there laying by the crib.  I don't think she has any idea whats about to happen, but its the sweetest thing <3

I'm sure everyone has seen the Ikea spice racks used as bookshelves via Pinterest.. I just loved the look of it, and its not nearly as bulky as a big ole bookcase.  Most people end up painting them, but I liked the natural wood look :)

One of my first DIY projects for the nursery was this pegboard that I had seen via Pinterest.  I was trying to make a few "manly" decorations and thought the pegboard as a great way to do that. I stuck hubby's baseball glove up there and bought these wire baskets from Home Depot to put diapers in.  Then I just put his baby shower invitations up there for now, we can always switch those out later as he gets older :)

The Curious George is actually from when Dave was a kid!  The original :) And Jackson's sonogram from 12 weeks!

Another fun, quick DIY project that I did was his crib mobile. Its just card stock hanging from an embroidery hoop with baker's twine!  For the prints above his crib, I found most of them on Etsy, and my talented brother drew the fox, elephant and giraffe.  They are all complete with little crowns above their heads :)  Here are the links for the other prints:

Last but not least, I wanted to add something baseball related for the hubs.  I found this baseball bat coat rack idea on Pinterest and tried it out for myself!  I just got an old bat and drilled holes for hooks and to hang it on the wall.  We have Dave's jerseys hanging up for now, but eventually it will be for Jackson's little coats and such :)  The painted sign above the rack is from Homegoods.

I hope my sweet boy loves his nursery as much as his mama does! I can't wait to have him in it :)

Ashley + Daniel 10.13.12

This bride and groom hold a special place in my heart as they are my neighbors!  It definitely helped in the design process to already know them personally and what they liked/disliked.  They wanted a vintage Hollywood glam theme and it was so fun creating the perfect suite to reflect that!  The suite featured a modern, large, black and white damask with red accents throughout.  They also wanted to incorporate the pocketfold to give it that "old-timey" look and feel.  They added their own personal touches like rhinestones and the outer feather/ribbon to make it even more exquisite.  I had the honor of attending the wedding at the historic Cavalier hotel and every last touch was absolutely beautiful!  

Sara + John 10.6.12

  I met Sara and John in early 2012 when they came to me for invitations for their October 2012 wedding.

They wanted a very elegant, classic invitation suite to set the tone for their big day and wanted the main colors to be dark gray + aubergine.  After toying around with lace doilies and a bajillion shades of purple ribbon, we finally created "the" perfect wedding invitation.  We decided to scrap the lace doily and add in the lace graphic on the invitation itself along with the envelope liner.  We also added a metallic gray mount on the invitation to add in a bit of glitz and glam. We sealed the suite with the perfect shade of aubergine ribbon :)

Sara and John were married at the Half Moon Celebration Center and everything turned out beautifully, from Sara's brooch bouquet to their coordinating table numbers & programs.

The happy couple are now expecting their first child.. a baby girl!  I love that I am able to follow my brides and grooms as they build their lives together.  Baby shower invitations, here we come!
